201. AlexMay 30, 2012 The Thief class tree has undergone an overhaul. Its class progression is now Thief, Ninja, Assassin, and Night Blade. Rogue and Treasure Hunter have been removed. Any accumulated JP will be moved to the relevant class. Users who possessed the Treasure Hunter class but have not completed the quest "A Shady Deal" will retain their JP, but the Assassin class will remain unavailable to them until they complete that quest. Updated skill lists can be viewed as normal through the relevant help files, and if necessary obtained through the getskills command. Report all bugs, comments, questions, concerns, and constructive criticism to Alex.
202. AlexNov 17, 2012 A strange cultist has made his way into the Alternate Nexus of the Worlds, offering total statistical respecialization for a modest sum of gil. In short, this will reset a player's stat allocation points. Players who fall below the restrictions for a certain class as a result of this will be unable to change to that class until their base stats are high enough again, although earned JP will be retained. Report all bugs, comments, questions, concerns, and constructive criticism to Alex.
203. AlexJun 18, 2013 The who command will now prepend the word "master" to a player's class once that player achieves class level 99. Report all bugs, comments, questions, concerns, and constructive criticism to Alex.
PS, "master master summoner" is not a bug.
204. KrugenJan 8, 2014 Albrook: The dock at Albrook now offers service to an additional destination, for a limited time. Go forth and check it out. Also, various changes around the mud have been taking place. Equipment updating being one of these things, so any equipment bugs should be reported via the 'bug' command.
205. AlexJul 1, 2016 Scrolls have been added as drops off bosses that will reduce some or all of your experience debt, depending on the difficulty of the boss. Currently, golden scrolls that remove your entire debt will drop off Hidon, Caiaphus, Faldainen, Brand, and Malthor. Silver scrolls that remove half your experience debt will drop off other bosses. Report all bugs, comments, questions, concerns, and constructive criticism to Alex.
206. 207. EnkerJun 22, 2018 The recall command has been implemented! Although it is of more limited use compared to similar commands on other MUDs, it should be quite helpful in getting out of aggro-filled areas or even just cutting down the time of an occasional long trip.
208. EnkerJul 3, 2018 The inv alias has been added. In addition to i, this is a shortcut for the inventory command. Thanks to Shironu for pointing this one out and to Avar for trying to help out when I was fumbling around trying to get it to work!
209. EnkerJul 4, 2018 Minimum inventory capacity has been raised from 10 to 15! This should make gathering items to sell at early levels much easier. Thanks to Morrigan and Alex for this!
210. EnkerJul 5, 2018 Cure1 potions have had their price slashed from 250 gil to 50 gil. In addition to the minimum inventory increase, hopefully this shall be a much better help with low level survivability.
211. EnkerJul 6, 2018 Armor and weapons gained off the Darkness enemies within the Mt. Taken area can now be sold for cash. Thanks to Morrigan for suggesting this.
212. EnkerJul 7, 2018 Cure2 potions have had their prices cut from 1000 gil to 500. Hopefully this helps with low level players using them and higher level players not abusing the price cut too much.
213. EnkerJul 7, 2018 Potions now show healing and damage values when drunk, and some of the backend was overhauled. Report any bugs to Enker!
214. EnkerJul 9, 2018 A couple of things updated here. Cure3 potions have had their prices hacked down from 2500 to 1200 gil. Also, after completing the Search for Thamasa quest, the Narshe airship will no longer block players from traveling to Thamasa or the Veldt for being under level 45 or so.
215. EnkerJul 17, 2018 Grey imps in Coneria have had their strength nerfed and their experience values recalculated. Hopefully they'll be less of a hassle for new players to tackle.
216. EnkerJul 19, 2018 The back-end for attack and defense elements has been revamped, and with it "good" and "evil" elements have been changed to "light" and "dark"; further elements can be added a lot more easily. "good" and "evil" equipment and skills still need some time to be updated for the change. Report any bugs asides from such equipment having no effect in that vein to Enker.
217. EnkerOct 19, 2018 Increased base item capacity from 15 to 30.
218. EnkerOct 21, 2018 Unless otherwise defined, all mobs now have gil drops according to a standard formula.
219. TimNov 16, 2018 I added a thing intended to keep idle connections active. If you didn't get any incoming messages for a while then you will be sent an empty message. I set it to just under two minutes. If this causes any problems or annoyances then please report it.
220. EnkerJan 18, 2019 Added a newbie rock garden to the Nexus last night.
221. EnkerJan 18, 2019 Added 'help blind' to provide help to blind players, especially for stuff that's a little bit more screenreader friendly.
222. EnkerJan 18, 2019 Added a blue sphere to Coneria near the storage Starlight Industries storage facility. If there was another blue sphere in town already, it wasn't exactly put in a readily available location.
223. EnkerJan 18, 2019 Added abbreviation support to the statbonus command as well as extra messaging for quality of life.
224. EnkerJan 19, 2019 Cut safe recall time (when not done at a nexus stone) to an hour, and cut the resulting experience debt to a tenth of what it was.
225. EnkerJan 19, 2019 General experience debt is largely abolished. A little bit can still be gained from using recall away from a nexus stone too much, and some might be gainable in dungeons in the future, but for now, enjoy (?) worry free death!
226. EnkerJan 19, 2019 Strength, Dexterity, and Cure 4 potions have been added to the Tycoon and Narshe item shops. Enjoy more readily available buffs!
227. EnkerFeb 18, 2019 The backend for weapons and armor has been tidied up a good bit. Tell Enker if any errors crop up!
228. TimMar 11, 2019 I added the beginnings of some GMCP stuff. It sends out-of-band messages about your HP and experience and levels and whatnot, without your game client having to recognize and grab it from your prompt or command output. If you're using Mudlet then you can do 'gmcp client' and it will retrieve a simple plugin that makes some status bars in the corner with HP/SP/TNL. MUSHclient plugins can do the same kind of status bars, but I haven't made one yet. On Mudlet there is also a checkbox where you can allow Mudlet to mark you as playing the game on Discord. If you play via the web client at then that too will have some HP and progress bars on it.
229. EnkerApr 13, 2019 Added 'fight' and 'attack' as global aliases for 'kill'.
230. EnkerApr 20, 2019 Added in warp stones, one-use items which can take you to your savepoint, and made them available in the Narshe and Tycoon item shops.
231. EnkerApr 20, 2019 Warpstones, cure3 potions, cure4 potions, strength potions, and dexterity potions have been added to Coneria's item shop.
232. EnkerApr 20, 2019 Enker updated Coneria and Baron item shops accordingly.
233. EnkerApr 26, 2019 Pravoka now has, in the first Main Street room, paths to the east and west, leading to near the armor shop and...near enough to the bounty shop respectively. Hopefully this makes navigating that town somewhat easier.
234. EnkerOct 10, 2019 Bears bought at the Tycoon pet shop should no longer explode (for the time being, at least) when you change your class at a sphere. The pet shop itself may still be a bit buggy.
235. EnkerOct 17, 2019 Two decades after his supposed demise, the Squidmage King has returned seeking vengeance! He is rumored to be found in a waterlogged cave in U'tama, the forest east of Pravoka. Thanks to Fairan for braving that cave and pointing out the room he should've been in.
236. EnkerApr 7, 2020 Added defend command, for those moments where something's incoming that you can't possibly do anything about and aren't doing anything else at the time. Also, buffed Accumulate's power_up effect from 10% to 15%.
237. EnkerApr 15, 2020 Class restrictions on Fighter's Twohands ability have been lifted. You may now, for example, wield a hammer twohanded in White Mage with Fighter secondary (provided you've gotten it to 25 and gotten Twohands, of course).
238. EnkerApr 21, 2020 Enker added the alternate names/ids display from the consider command to identify. He also removed the combat and attacker checks from focus. That may allow for preparatory tactics going into fights with more than one mob.
239. EnkerApr 24, 2020 Added more distinct coloring for healing/damage in the HP/SP report. Also, changed the display to show it as MP rather than SP. Also, removed the nasty spinfist desperation move from mobs (players still have a chance to use it at 25% HP or less).
240. EnkerApr 25, 2020 WHM tree now has holy (formerly good) elemental spells available once more at the appropriate tier! Any issues arising (such as needing to change good-elemental effects to holy-elemental effects), please notify Enker.
241. EnkerApr 25, 2020 Elements backend has been overhauled. Any bugs or other weirdness which crops up, let Enker know.
242. EnkerMay 3, 2020 Enker overhauled the structure of the ability backend. Any bugs that crop up, let him know.
243. EnkerMay 7, 2020 All White Mage buffs as well as Time Wizard's Haste and Young have had their effectiveness doubled and their duration set to 120 (about 4 minutes or so, because it's weird); most were 60, or 2 minutes, while Young had a meager duration of 45. Any issues that arise, let Enker know.
244. EnkerMay 9, 2020 A lot of the backend for how accuracy and absorb was messed with. If anything screws up, let Enker know, and he is so, so sorry.
245. EnkerMay 23, 2020 Staves have been added to the Caller tree weapons usable list!
246. EnkerMay 28, 2020 Redid the status effect back end. Any weirdness, let Enker know.
247. EnkerMay 31, 2020 A fast travel system has been implemented for the Aethyr spheres! Simply touch one to register it in your player data, then at any other one you should be able to travel back to it. Any issues, bugs, etc., let Enker know.
248. EnkerJun 5, 2020 Multiple sphere colors have been reestablished. Any weirdness that crops up, such as pink spheres (the debug color), red and blue spheres not registering on the travel list, and so forth, let Enker know.
249. AlexJul 15, 2020 Mysidia's shops (including its bounty shop) are now open for business again. The rest of the city will remain closed for the time being.
250. AlexJul 17, 2020 The Wanderer class tree is now live. Wanderer is a physical damage dealing class which relies on several unique mechanics. Please make sure to read the help files for these classes before playing them. Players who previously had the Paladin and Dark Knight classes will be adjusted accordingly. Accumulated JP will not be lost, but the Paladin class is no longer accessible and players lower than level 99 will need to wait until level 99 to change back to Dark Knight. Paladin JP will be moved to Holy Knight.
Wanderer may be found in Narshe, Seeker may be found in New Mobliz, Ravager may be found in Nikeah, and Holy Knight may be found in Albrook. Dark Knight and Divine Knight are jointly rewarded from the quest In Defiant Challenge, visible on your quest list once you reach level 99 and meet the prerequisites for either class (you only need one, not both).
Please report all feedback to Alex.
251. EnkerJul 28, 2020 The old races Moogle, Half-Elf, and Half-Lunar have been put back in as selectable races. Any questions or issues, ask Enker.
252. EnkerJul 28, 2020 Chakra should now, theoretically, heal for just as much on the secondary job as it should on the primary; any reason for it not having done so should be well in the past given that there should be no real dump stats (unlike Charisma back in the day, or the split between Int and Str). Any questions, ask Enker.
253. EnkerJul 28, 2020 And, in case it wasn't said before, Holy has been put back in as a potential reward in Daryl's Tomb. Any questions, ask Enker.
254. AlexJul 28, 2020 Poison and regen have been changed to tick faster, and should be significantly more useful now. Note that poison will still not tick on monsters if they're not in combat.
255. AlexAug 19, 2020 The consider command has been updated to display more relevant combat information regarding the target. As this encompasses all information previously conveyed by the Peep spell and Study ability, they have been removed.
256. AlexSep 7, 2020 The Thief tree has been revamped. In brief: Ninja has been moved up to third tier, Assassin has been moved up to fourth tier, and Rogue has been introduced as the second tier quest in the class tree. All accumulated JP will be retained. Please see each class' help files for further details. Rogue is available from any guild which previously gave Ninja, such as in Tycoon or Kohlingen. The quest A Shady Deal has been changed to award the Ninja class. The Assassin class is available from the quest The Shadow Knows, available on your quest list once you meet the class requirements. Finally, the stagger system has been expanded. Details are available in 'help stagger'. Please report all feedback to Alex.
257. AlexSep 8, 2020 The Mouht Taken quest has been simplified considerably and should be much more newbie-friendly. Please report all feedback to Alex.
258. EnkerSep 22, 2020 Mercenary and Heretic, classes based on Ramza's later versions of the Squire class from FFT, are now available, they can be found at Vrao's warrior guildhall in Mobliz. Help files for such seem to be having issues with the new help system, so Mercenary requires Squire 50, Vit 155, and Heretic requires Mercenary 99, Vit 230. Any questions, mudmail Enker.
259. EnkerSep 24, 2020 After some careful thought, Heretic's Vit requirement has been reduced to 200 and a Wis requirement has been added to both it and Mercenary. Also, Mercenary's sacrificial spells have had limit gain added to them. The class has also gained the spell Entrust for boosting another's limit gauge at the cost of your own. Any questions, mudmail Enker.
260. EnkerSep 26, 2020 Squire, Mercenary, and Heretic have updated helpfiles, giving an overview of how they work (and in Squire's case, giving it a description at all). In addition, Mercenary and Heretic can now wear hats (I forgot to give that to them -_-).
261. AlexSep 27, 2020 The Dragoon tree has been revamped. A new first-tier class, Uhlan, has been added, and Dragon Knight has been renamed to Holy Dragoon. Players who have already leveled Fighter will receive equal JP in Uhlan, and all Dragon Knight JP will be transferred to Holy Dragoon. Please see the help files for Uhlan, Lancer, Dragoon, and Holy Dragoon for details. All class quests remain the same. Uhlan is available from guilds in Narshe or Baron. Furthermore, two additional help files have been added: help highwind, and help stance. Please report all feedback to Alex.
262. LailokenSep 27, 2020 The Caller tree has been completely redone. A new second tier class (Evoker) has been added; Summoner and Master Summoner have been moved up to third and fourth tier classes, respectively. Any progress made in the previous Summoner/Master Summoner classes have been shifted according to the new class order. Please see help files for "caller", "evoker", "summoner", and "mastersummoner" for details. A new quest has been added to join the Summoner class called "A Cryptic Summons." There will be a quest for Master Summoner, but until it has been completed you can simply join it in the Guild of Call Magic in Mist. Some of the old espers are temporarily disabled, but they will all be added back soon (you won't have to re-learn them).
Please report all feedback to Lailoken.
263. EnkerOct 3, 2020 Support for different kinds of limit breaks has been added to the limit command, along with the ability to change to a limit break lower down in your class tree. Unique limits have been added for the Mercenary and Heretic classes, too. Questions, comments, Enker is tired.
264. EnkerNov 17, 2020 Mercenary and Heretic now have the capacity to gain, in the course of leveling them, 10% chances (stacking, of course) to counterattack using Fighter's Tackle ability. Questions, comments, Enker.
265. LailokenJan 3, 2021 The area of Troia (FF4) has been added to the game as a level 70-80 zone. To reach the city of Troia you can take an airship from Baron to a port in the Troian overworld. From there you can follow the path to the city. Troia was an old, unfinished area which has been updated and cleaned up, but it is still a work in progress. The quests have been disabled for now, though you may see some clues or references to them. Please report any bugs, typos, or suggestions. Lailoken is the primary Esper working on Troia.
266. AlexMar 15, 2021 As the first of several class adjustments, Thief tree no longer requires strength to unlock and Samurai no longer inherits Monk. Be advised that other class adjustments are planned for the future.
267. AlexMar 15, 2021 The Pugilist tree has been added and the former Black Belt tree has been removed. Accumulated JP and class levels will transfer to the new class tree by class tier. Pugilist and Black Belt are available in the same locations as the previous Black Belt and Monk. The revised Monk is available from Duncan, and Master Monk is available from the quest My Love, My Anger, and All My Sorrow, available on your quest list once you meet the class requirements. Please see help pugilist for further details. Please report all feedback to Alex.
268. LailokenApr 16, 2021 The Ebot's Rock dungeon in Thamasa has been revamped! The path through the dungeon has been streamlined to make it easier for players to reach the bosses. There are 5 boss encounters and an optional event randomly placed within the teleportation rooms. The dungeon is now instanced, which means that each player (or party) gets their own copy. Dungeons will reset every day at 8am UTC. The dungeon entrance is in the same spot, but may be moved in the future. Ebot's Rock is currently in a beta state which means it may still require some balancing. Please submit idea/bug reports if you have any feedback. Lailoken is the primary esper working on Ebot's Rock. For more info see "help ebotsrock".
269. AlexApr 21, 2021 The town of Baron has been updated, and an entirely new series of quests has been added. These quests serve both as a game tutorial integrated into gameplay, and as the introduction to the main scenario of Final Fantasy 4. For further information on these quests, please see help quests, help earth, and quests monster_clearing. Please look forward to an expanded quest system and an all new series of quests as we work to bring you a rich, immersive Final Fantasy experience. Please report all feedback on the Baron redesign and the Final Fantasy 4 main scenario to Alex.
